Vedanga Jyotisha is one of the earliest texts about astronomy within the Vedas. Their names are related to the most prominent asterisms in the respective sectors.
The word Horoscope comes from the Greek word Horoscopos, which means hour watcher. Today the word horoscope is used to describe the forecast made based on the chart that has been erected. With the use of astro science, a horoscope can be erected for a person, a business, a city, or a nation. A chart is made for each Sun sign in which the Sun is put on the ascendant. That is, a chart is made where the ascendant is zero degrees Aries, zero degrees Taurus, etc. That chart is then compared to the transiting planets.
